Broken Society Run Club: Big Miles, Bigger Community

Community ๐Ÿ’›High energy โšกSocial ๐Ÿ’ฌTrack ๐ŸŽฝTrails ๐ŸŒณ

Broken Society Run Club (BSRC) is living proof that running clubs can do more than organise miles – they can build real community.

At its heart, BSRC is about good people coming together over shared runs and a shared feeling of being part of something bigger. What started as a small gathering has grown into one of Northamptonshireโ€™s most talked-about running communities, known for big turnouts whatever the weather. Rain, frost, dark evenings or bright summer sessions – the energy stays the same. The crew shows up.

Broken Society Run Club runs together twice a week as standard:

  • Wednesday 5-8km social meets in Higham Ferrers (7:00pm)
  • Sunday 7-10km social loops around Rushden Lakes (9:15am)

Both are unapologetically social. The pace is welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed, and the focus is on enjoyment rather than taking things too seriously. But this isnโ€™t just a โ€œmeet and jogโ€ group. Alongside the regular runs, BSRC also hosts track sessions, offering runners the chance to work on form, speed and confidence in a supportive, pressure-free setting. Whatever the session, runs often finish with post-run treats at local independents, reinforcing the clubโ€™s strong community roots.

Another defining part of Broken Society is its beginner-friendly gateway sessions – welcoming meetups designed specifically for those new to running, returning after time away, or building confidence before joining the main runs. These sessions strip away the intimidation that so often stops people turning up, replacing it with reassurance, encouragement and shared experience.

Those same good vibes carry through every mile. Broken Society Run Club is grounded in encouragement, humour and genuine connection – nervous first runs are celebrated just as loudly as big sessions, and social miles are valued every bit as much as race-day achievements.

And itโ€™s not just internal love. In 2025, Broken Society Run Club was crowned Best Community at the Northants Life Awards – recognition that reflects not pace or performance, but the space the club has created.

Broken Society Run Club doesnโ€™t just organise runs. It builds consistency, confidence and connection โ€“ harnessing a loyal crew who run together through every season.
