Running feels particularly at home at Heppni. Founder and head baker India Luck is a runner herself, and what started as a monthly 5km from the Swinegate bakery has grown into a community built around two very good things: shared miles and exceptional pastry.
The regular Heppni Run Club keeps things beautifully simple – an early-morning 5km around York followed by coffee, conversation and something flaky back at the bakery. But Heppni has increasingly taken the idea further, with bigger community runs and even its own Heppni Half Marathon: 13.1 miles around York, naturally finishing with a medal and a pastry.
It all feels less like a marketing add-on and more like an extension of what Heppni already is: a warm, independent York hangout where people genuinely want to spend time.
