Alpha Run Club meets every Thursday in Bedminster for chilled 5km loops, harbour views, summer park runs & post-run drinks at Alpha Bottle Shop & Tap.
Runners, meet Alpha Run Club – a small-but-mighty Thursday night crew that keeps things friendly, simple, and feel-good.
They meet at 6pm every Thursday at Alpha Bottle Shop & Tap, a neighbourhood gem known for interesting beers and good vibes. There the group gathers and drops bags, laces up, chats a little, and by 6.30pm they roll out for a very chilled-pace 5km. No pressure, split groups. Just good people running together.
Their go-to route? A relaxed 5km harbourside loop, lit up by Bristol’s waterfront, warehouses, bridges and golden-hour reflections. Halfway, there’s a quick breather and the signature Alpha team photo – smiles for miles.
When summer hits, they switch it up with a local favourite: a 5km route up to Victoria Park, winding past Bedminster’s colourful terrace rows before cresting into one of the city’s best green spaces. Same pace, same vibe – just more sunshine and longer evenings.
Every run starts and ends at the bottle shop, which means one thing: post-run drinks. And because Alpha is, well, Alpha, they’ve got plenty of options — craft beers, low-alcohol drinks, softs, something for every kind of runner. The post-run hangout is half the point: a chance to really get to know your fellow runners and likeminded souls.
But the thing that truly sets Alpha apart is its love for Bedminster and the surrounding area. Once a month they host a Sunday morning plog – jogging while picking up litter – led by local eco-hero Clair (@litterploggerbristol). Waterhaul provides recycled litter-picking gear, and together the plogging crew spends an hour doing something that leaves the neighbourhood cleaner than they found it. It’s wholesome in the best way, and a rare running-club tradition that combines movement, community, and proper civic pride.
The club’s message couldn’t be clearer: “No matter your ability, Alpha Run Club is welcome to all.”
Walkers, joggers, seasoned runners, newcomers, even four-legged friends – everyone is welcomed with open arms. It’s the kind of run club where you can show up alone and very quickly making new friends.
If you love neighbourhood spirit, chilled miles, harbour views and a cold one after, Alpha Run Club fits right into Bristol’s proud run-and-brew culture – with a little extra heart.
