GoodGym Newcastle isn’t your typical run club – it’s where fitness meets community action. Where running has purpose, not just pace. The idea is simple: run together, support local projects, and sneak in a workout while helping neighbours and public spaces thrive. All sessions are free, inclusive and built around mutual support.
GoodGym’s weekly group run in Newcastle sets off from Stepney Bank Stables in Ouseburn – around 6:15 pm, meeting up before heading out as a crew of volunteers to perform heroic acts. Whether that’s running to collect essential supplies for an older person, helping around their home or a local foodbank, tending community gardens, litter picking, or volunteering at a local parkrun.
Each task becomes the midpoint of the run, turning an ordinary evening jog into a shared mission.
All you need to take part is a warm heart and a pair of trainers. Walkers, joggers, and runners of all abilities are welcome. It’s not just about the run, you’ll also meet fellow kind souls and finish with a full heart, knowing you’ve made a real difference where you live.
To date, more than 400,000 missions have been completed by GoodGymers across the UK. Why not join in and give back while getting fit?
