Roundhay Runners is a members-only run club keeping North Leeds moving, costing £30 per year.
With takeovers of the streets, parks, and trails around Roundhay, Gledhow, and Meanwood every Tuesday and Thursday, each session splits into seven pace groups so no one runs alone.
It’s that mix of structure and social energy that makes the 300-member club different. Tuesday sessions focus on intervals, form, and hill strength – the stuff that quietly helps you to build speed and endurance. Thursdays are all about group runs: shared miles, familiar faces, and a post-run pint at North Leeds Cricket Club, their long-time base.
Roundhay Runners have built a wonderful community around a shared love of running. Members cheering each other across finish lines, pacing newcomers through their first 10km, and still showing up mid-winter, head-torches cutting through the cold. One runner summed it up perfectly:
“There’s always someone your speed, and always someone cheering louder than you think you deserve.”
Roundhay Runners’ Couch-to-5km and beginner programmes make them a great gateway into running too – they train up dozens of new runners each year, folding them seamlessly into club life. Add socials, pub nights, and a strong presence at local races, and you’ve got a club that balances focus with fun.
Show up once, and you’ll understand why Roundhay Runners has become a Leeds running institution.
