Chapel Allerton Runners are the ideal sweet spot of a neighbourhood run club and adventurous trail crew.
A North Leeds institution, they’re the ones clocking extra miles through the woods while most people are winding down for the evening.
Based at Gledhow Sports & Social Club (LS8 1NQ), they meet twice a week:
The routes make it special: winding through Meanwood Valley Trail, climbing up towards Eccup Reservoir, or cruising loops of Roundhay Park. It’s Leeds running at its best – a blend of city edge and nature-filled calm, where conversation and challenge go stride for stride.
You’ll find every type of runner here, from newcomers testing their endurance to seasoned marathoners using club nights as training anchors. Loop-backs keep everyone together, but the community’s real glue is a shared love of running and community feel.
Socials and race days are a big deal too. They turn out for local halves, marathons, and trail events across Yorkshire. Post-run, it’s usually back to the bar at Gledhow for pints, race chat, and weekend plotting.
If you like your runs longer and with an end goal in sight – longer miles, real terrain, and building up to the next race event – Chapel Allerton Runners might just be your crew.
